Slate Tile Flooring Installation With Laminate Floor

Slate is an elegant look that can make any house look rich and sophisticated, but it can generally be quite expensive. Luckily there are ways to produce an affordable project with slate tile flooring, or even use a comparable replacement that will give you the same feel without the same price. If you shop around and know what to look for, slate can be an attainable goal.

Slate tiles

Having a floor made out of slate tiles creates a classy impression, but if your space is very large, you will pay a lot of that appearance. If slate tiles is your goal, try looking at online wholesale dealers.

Slate Tile Flooring

They will often offer you unbeatable prices for real slate tiles, and give you a wide range of color selections and patterns. If you have a very large space to tile, you will even get additional discounts on minimum square footage orders, dropping down to about $1.30 / square foot if you order at least 600-600 square feet.

For smaller orders, the prices are still reasonable; at about $180 per square foot. Shopping this way is easy, cheaper, will be delivered to your door, and you usually have a 30 day money back guarantee to protect you. If you are patient about your project and have the time to shop around, getting tiles this way will save you a bundle.

Installing Slate Tiles

When you order your tiles, consider the area you are covering and the climate to ensure you get the right tiles for your space. Ideally, unless you are very handy, slate tiles should be put in by a professional, but there are measure you can take beforehand to make the job go smoother.

1. The best thing to do first is lay out your tiles in the pattern you want to see if the color and design really matches your room.

2. Think about the type of substrate you will use under your floor and make sure it matches the type of slate tiles you buy.

3. Buy a mortar that is appropriate for your indoor or outdoor project.

4. Choose a slate tile sealant. You have different options depending on the look you want. High gloss will give it a wet look, low sheen is slightly reflective but less shiny then high gloss and then no sheen which will give it a matte, natural finish.

Laminate

To get the appeal of slate tiles but to save even more money, opt for slate laminate flooring. You will pay about $60-75 for a box of more than 18 square feet in a regular retail store, and even less wholesale.

Your laminated floor will also be much easier to install yourself, as you can get them in glueless snap lock styles, enabling you to simply click them into place over a foam underlay. It is a job that you can by yourself in a day or less and will give you the same appeal as slate tiles without the cost and work.

Slate tile flooring is a beautiful option, but although there are savings to be found, it can be costly. A great alternative is slate laminate flooring which you can do yourself and minimize expenses.
